Trend alert: Matt Black Kitchens
You probably noticed that matt black kitchens are trending right now. I have to admit, they are very cool. Now, just because everyone else is doing it, doesn’t mean you should do it too (do I sound like your mother?).
Hey, I’m all for it but let’s take a minute to think about whether you would actually enjoy a black kitchen in your home. I’ve got some fantastic pictures to show you too.
Black is the most powerful colour, although it’s technically not a colour at all. It can conjure up images of mystery and magic. As well as elegance and sleek sophistication. It particularly teams well with a minimalist aesthetic.
The strength of black is often emphasised by using it with white. Checkered tiles are a classic example and white marble is a more current example.

Black is very formal and stylish. Think black suit and tie, and that little black dress that everyone must own. It will never date and you can change the look with accessories.
Black also emphasises the emotional content of other colours. It can form a powerful, sharp outline on decoration. You could use it to emphasise your hardware and light fittings. It also combines well with metal, glass and wood.
True, black can be negative to some people. A bit too moody and depressing. Inferring fear, death, witches and demons. But I think black represents an endless starry night, full of magic. What do you think?
